Medveděv sleduje US Open na nelegálních webech, fanoušci jsou naštvaní

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are the two players that the entire tennis world has its eyes on. Fans are expecting another epic battle in the final. World number three Daniil Medvedev, on the other hand, is enjoying the last Grand Slam of the season without much pressure.

Medvedev first entertained fans in the second round when, like before, he called for a medical timeout during his match against Christopher O’Connell when the score was 2-1 in sets.

„Do you have any symptoms of illness or injury?“ the immediate health worker asked him.

„Yeah, I lost a set, so give me everything you gave him,“ the quick-witted Russian tennis player replied.

The funny interview then circulated on social media for a long time, just like videos of Medvedev having to calm down American fans in the stands who went to get beer while he was preparing to serve.

„Are you stupid or something?“ he scolded one of the spectators who was crawling to her seat.

His authentic behavior on the court is greatly admired by another now legendary tennis hothead, American John McEnroe.

„I love it. As a former player, I can’t and won’t defend it, but as a viewer, I love these situations,“ said McEnroe, a television expert for Eurosport.

After reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open, Medvedev made another remark when he complained that American hotels do not have a TV with a paid channel where tennis is broadcasted in the room.

„Fortunately, I have the internet, so I use what you call pirate servers to watch some matches. That’s how I watched Novak Djokovic until half past three in the morning,“ confessed the 27-year-old Russian.

On Wednesday, he will face his compatriot Andrey Rublev in a battle for a spot in the semifinals.
