Karabec, a player for the Czech football team Sparta Prague, has been given a red card and suspended for one match after elbowing Dominik Žák in the face during a match against Karviná. The incident occurred in the 54th minute of the game, after Žák had fouled Karabec. Initially, the referee, Jan Machálek, only showed Karabec a yellow card, but after the intervention of the video assistant referee and reviewing the footage, Machálek decided to send off the Sparta Prague player.
The disciplinary committee took into account that Karabec has no previous disciplinary record when determining the length of the suspension. This was his first red card in the top league, although he has received seven yellow cards so far this season.
Despite Karabec’s dismissal, Sparta Prague managed to maintain their lead and secure a 3-1 victory over the newly promoted Karviná. The Czech Republic under-21 international had opened the scoring for his team in the sixth minute of the game.
In another disciplinary decision, Thomas Jungbauer of České Budějovice was given a one-match suspension after receiving a red card in a cup match against Velké Hamry. He had been cautioned twice before being sent off.
The disciplinary committee also imposed a fine of 40,000 Czech koruna on Slavia Prague for breaching their obligations as the host team during a league match against Ostrava. Additionally, Baník Ostrava was fined half the amount for the behavior of their fans during the same match.
